Lady Charmaine Day aka Mama Booker has built a multifaceted career as an author, Mental Medical Condition Advocate, and entrepreneur. Since founding Unlimited Help Ministry in 2008 until quitting March 2025, she has leveraged online platforms to reach a global audience, using faith-based leadership and Mental Medical Condition advocacy to support individuals navigating personal and professional challenges.
Raised in Roosevelt, New York, Lady Charmaine excelled academically, graduating #3 of her high school class, serving as senior class President, Homecoming Queen, Yearbook Editor, and Public Announcer, before earning a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. She continued her education at Columbia University, earning a Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology. Throughout her academic career, she held leadership roles and was inducted into multiple honor societies, including Cornell Tradition Fellow, Quill and Dagger Senior Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi, and Phi Delta Kappa.
Her professional background includes corporate roles at Philip Morris, Pfizer, Nabisco, Ingersoll-Rand, Porter Novelli and Ketchum-Stromberg Consulting as well as leadership positions in nonprofit organizations such as Lighthouse International, The Fortune Society, Children's Television Workshop (Sesame Street), North General Hospital and 32BJSEIU. However, a shift toward ministry and Mental Medical Condition advocacy led her to establish Unlimited Help Ministry, where she integrates faith and wellness into her outreach.
Mental Health Advocacy and Public Engagement
Diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder Type 1 at age 26, Lady Charmaine Day aka Mama Booker has uses her personal experience to support others. She was involved with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) NYC Metro from 2008-2025 as an In Our Own Voice presenter and statewide trainer and Ending The Silence Program for Parents, Students, and Staff Lead Presenter. Her work in Mental Medical Condition Advocacy earned her recognition in the NAMI Hall of Fame (2011) and the NAMI NYS Media Award (2015) for her contributions to awareness through public speaking, her podcast and media.
In 2022, she was named Volunteer of the Year by NAMI NYC, In 2025, she was awarded the
"Best Mental Health Awareness Advocate in New York"
by Evergreen Awards and continues her advocacy as a Board Member for the Bureau of Mental Health Consumer Advisory Board (CAB) of the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Podcasting and Publishing
Lady Charmaine has been an early adopter of online ministry and digital media. Her spiritual podcast, Taboo Talk, has transitioned through multiple formats, beginning as a television show on Time Warner MNN and BronxNet (2008-2010) before moving to an online radio format (2008-2020). The show has garnered a significant audience. In 2020, Taboo Talk became a video podcast that airs on her website. The show format is guest stars sharing their story and 21 pearls of Wisdom to help the watching audience.
As an author, she has published 20 books addressing faith, mental health, and personal transformation. Notable works include:
"Do I Look Bipolar?" – A personal account of her mental health journey, featuring 71 wellness coping strategies and pictures from 0-52.
“Unlimited Help A Book Of Wisdom” is a book of Lady Day's God inspired teaching and notes that she has shared for the last 16 years in her Unlimited Help Ministry.
“Taboo Talk Poetry From My Soul" – A compilation book of all Lady Charmaine Day's poetry that she has written throughout her life exploring personal mental health struggles and issues.
Her work as an author was recognized in 2009, when she was inducted into the Bronx Barnes & Noble Hall of Fame for outstanding book sales.
Expanding Her Reach
In recent years, Lady Charmaine has expanded her efforts beyond ministry and advocacy. In 2022, she launched the Black Ivy Brand, a line of clothing and accessories celebrating Black Ivy League graduates. That same year, she released a contemporary gospel track, “The LCD Remix”, in collaboration with JB aka Dirty Moses.
Reflecting on her journey, Lady Charmaine notes the evolution of online ministry: "When I first started online ministry, internet radio, and podcasting, it was new. Today, it's common place. Getting followers at first was difficult, but now I have an engaged audience across multiple platforms."
